Erin Kingsley

Manager, Instructional Design

What I do at Brivo

I’m the Instructional Design Manager at Brivo, where I lead our instructional design team and our end-to-end learning strategy. I’m currently steering 13 different internal and external programs through the full ADDIE lifecycle, making sure everything we put out is on-brand and hits our quarterly goals. I’m lucky enough to lead a talented team of three designers, and I’m dedicated to coaching and mentorship. I work hard to foster an environment of supported excellence, professional and rapid and clear communication, psychological safety, and desire to innovate and improve.

Why Brivo

If you are looking for a role where you can truly own your work, this is the place for you. We operate with a high degree of independence and very little micro-management, supported by a collaborative, kind, and highly engaged team with excellent leadership already in place. Management is deeply invested in professional development and has a genuine desire to help you grow your skills to set you up for long-term success. The work itself is varied and interesting; you’ll have the chance to tackle multiple projects, including our most critical eLearning content—our technical certification courses. Most importantly, you will be a valued member of the team whose voice and expertise actually matter. We actively encourage your input on how to improve our content and processes, and we ensure you have the best, most cutting-edge tools at your fingertips to bring those ideas to life.

Who am I?

My journey into L&D leadership has been a unique blend of technical foundations, academic rigor, and corporate strategy. I began my career in the legal sector managing technical onboarding and IT systems training, which laid the groundwork for my transition into higher education. Over a sixteen-year tenure in academia, I earned my Ph.D. with an emphasis on eLearning while directing complex programs, scaling global programs, and ensuring strict digital accessibility compliance. Today, I have pivoted that expertise back into the corporate world at Brivo, where I lead high-performing teams, modernize instructional workflows through AI integration, and align learning initiatives directly with organizational KPIs. I care about efficiency, excellence, kindness, inclusion, and bringing my whole authentic self to work each day.

Advice for prospective candidates

To stand out for this role, you should position yourself as someone who balances  precision with speed. Demonstrate a deep mastery of instructional design, technical training, and a data-driven approach to the ADDIE process. Show that you aren't just an "order-taker" by highlighting how you’ve used modern tools and strategic thinking to solve complex business problems or align training with KPIs. Finally, lean into your personal values—our team prioritizes authenticity and kindness, so don't be afraid to show your true personality alongside your technical portfolio. We are looking for someone who can bridge the gap between high-level strategy and high-quality content creation.
